From Day One: Attacks, Intimidation, and Repression — BNP’s Misuse of Power

Apurbo Ahmed Jewel: From the very first day, house-to-house attacks, fear-mongering, and repressive tactics have been used — this is not public service; it is solely a strategy to seize power and spread fear. Winning an election does not only mean seats or prestige; it means responsibility — responsibility to govern, uphold justice, and ensure people’s safety. When this duty is neglected, power becomes a tool for exploitation and intimidation, and democracy suffers.

Political power that relies on fear of the people never gains long-term support. Intimidation and repression provide only short-term control, but trust and confidence of the people are lost. History has proven that power gained through fear and violence is never permanent; people’s hope and strength eventually prevail.

The citizens of the country do not want mere governance — they want service. They want security, justice, and peace, not fear. If this principle is broken at the very beginning of power, what will the next five years bring — development for the country, or just terror and oppression?

We demand strong and real democracy — where the value of votes is protected, justice is upheld, people are safe, and leadership serves the people, not exploitation or repression. Democracy is not just a word; it is a practical reality that provides freedom and dignity to the people.
