Saiful Haque, the General Secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party, stated that a puppet government formed through rigged elections will not sustain power for long. He emphasized that even with certificates of diplomatic etiquette from foreign entities, people cannot be kept powerless.
Addressing a gathering at the National Press Club on Monday (February 5), the Dhaka Metropolitan Committee of the Revolutionary Workers Party raised these concerns.
He mentioned that the Awami League, through multi-party democratic structures, has destroyed the parliamentary system by adopting a single-party fascist rule. The authoritarian rule of the Awami League has led the country towards inevitable disaster.
Saiful Haque criticized the government for empowering corrupt businesspeople and miscreants, allowing profit-making syndicates to control the market. He argued that this government lacks the capacity to take action against them. Instead, the government itself has handed the country’s fate to profit-making businesspeople.
He accused the ruling party of imprisoning thousands of opposition leaders and activists in false cases labeled as ‘conspiracies and lies.’ Saiful Haque termed these cases as ‘conspiratorial and false,’ urging the immediate release of the party leaders and activists.
Highlighting the abuse of power, Saiful Haque claimed that the government, in its pursuit of power, has transformed the country into a playground for foreign powers. He called upon the citizens to unite and fiercely resist any attempts by the government to resign during the election period and establish an interim government.
Mir Mofazzal Hossain Moshtaq, the Chairman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Committee of the Revolutionary Workers Party, and other party leaders also spoke at the event.
